A Full Synopsis Of American Beauty

One of my favorite films in recent years was American Beauty. This movie was highly acclaimed, winning five Academy Awards. These included best picture and Kevin Spacey winning Best Actor.

This is a film about people struggling with life. It keys on the lives of a family with only a mother father and daughter. We watch these three people struggle with their lives, and with each other.

Lester is the father of a rebellious daughter and a bitchy and bossy wife. He hates his boring life and his job is becoming uninspiring as well. He is entering into a classic midlife crisis.

Carolyn is a materialistic woman who is very bitchy. She has a real estate career herself and is always looking to make money and improve her status. She starts to cheat on her husband with a married man she feels is more motivated like she is.

Jane, their daughter, is rebelling from the fighting couple and trying to “find herself”. Her best friend is a high school hottie who everyone is after, but Jane feels unsure of herself. Even her dad has the hots for her best friend.

Eventually Lester “loses it” at work and quits his job. He gets a good severance pay because he knows some bad things the company has done. He leaves his job and finds work at a fast food place. He also starts working out, and smoking marijuana too.

Jane finds a boyfriend in the new kid next door, Ricky. Ricky is a strange kid with a tough family life himself. His father is a closet homosexual with a strict military background. This has left his mother as a dominated shell of a woman. Ricky sells pot, and becomes Lester’s supplier and friend.

This sets the stage for a powerful ending, which I won’t spoil for anyone who hasn’t seen the film. This is a brilliant film and Kevin Spacey is at his ultimate best. American Beauty is a must see movie.

Introduction For Stand Up Comedians

Stand-up comedy is a different variety of comedy. There is generally a live audience and the comedian (stand-up comic) will speak with all of them instantly. They will use a microphone and stand up the entire or at least for most of the show.

The performances only go on a while and the comedian will tell experiences to help make audience laugh. These are called one-liners and brief jokes. They are usually doing the show by themselves (monologue). The comedians typically carry out their shows in comedy clubs, colleges or movie theaters. They are going to perform their shows wherever they can.

There are several places where open mic shows are held where even if you are not really a comedian, you can go ahead and try it out. This is a means that many amateurs start off and make their opportunity to the big time in comedy. You will discover that with many beginning performances you will observe the red brick backdrop.

Performing stand-up is difficult because of how the audience might respond to the jokes. The comedian will be expecting them to have fun; on the other hand, that won’t always be the scenario. The comedian must strive hard to get the audience to respond positively. If their jokes are not hilarious, they will get heckled by the audience. They will need to eventually overcome that hurdle.

The comedian needs to work towards making people laugh, or they could say goodbye to their career. They are usually putting on numerous hats after they start in stand-up comedy. The comedian also works as a writer, editor, producer and promoter if they are first starting out.

Sometimes it can take many years before they get a following by having an audience. It can actually be lonely during this time if they are trying to break out of their shell.

Starting Guidelines

Practice writing your material and create jokes. Make sure that you have punch lines that you really think the crowd would have a good laugh at. The joke will bomb if you don’t have the perfect comeback.

Learn how to craft your own actions. Allow the jokes originate from numerous topics. Once you find what you look for, practice, practice, and practice.

Should you still feel rustic, have a course in stand-up comedy and find out some other guidance.

When you are only starting out, find venues where you can be the beginning act for a comedian who is further polished. Your neighborhood scene is the best choice for getting your feet on the door.

Talk with those who are in the know and would be happy to advise you as you become more polished in your delivery techniques. Surprisingly, there are expert comedians who are willing to take a chance on you or they’re going to make recommendations for you.

Get yourself a manager or even an agent once you start getting constant gigs. The best time to contact them is when they are in town and they may come to observe one of your shows.

Continuously sharing jokes is one of the secrets to a long-lasting stand-up comedy profession. In case you can’t do that, then you are in trouble.

It isn’t easy starting out in stand-up comedy. However, when you weed out unhealthy stuff, you may make your way like most of the popular comedians have.

A skinny yet laid back stand up comedy is really difficult to obtain! Anyone wishes someone that tend to make them have a good laugh and look nice also. Simply the preferred stand up comedian is going to do the action!

Se7en, With Brad Pitt, Is Well Worth Seeing

By reading into an article like this one, you more than likely are hoping to learn a little more about perhaps one of the most influential films to be released in 1995, Se7en. It is pronounced seven, and through the later paragraphs of this piece you will learn a little more about the movie with a plot synopsis and some other important details that you should know to fully appreciate the film.

Don’t say that you weren’t warned, now. There is going to be a detailed plot synopsis within the upcoming paragraphs and while it might not be laid out how the movie ends exactly, there will be a lot of plot details that are brought to light. So if you don’t want to read into the plot before seeing the film, this is your opportunity because the plot will start being discussed in the next paragraph.

The film begins with a brief introduction to two of the main characters through the film, Detective William Somerset and Detective David Mills. The two have been partnered together and it isn’t long before they are both on the case investigating two very unique murders unlike anything either of them had ever seen before.

It involves a morbidly obese man who has been fed spaghetti until he literally burst open at the stomach, killing him. Somerset is called away to tend to another murder that was discovered, and Mills stays to round up evidence at the first. Somerset steps onto a crime scene of a powerful lawyer who was notorious for getting guilty men off for heavy compensation. Both detectives find a word at their crime scenes: Mills finds the term “GLUTTONY” and Somerset finds “GREED.”

It is not a lengthy amount of time before the pieces reveal that these murders are relative to the seven deadly sins from Biblical teachings. So while they have discovered two, that leaves five that have already happened or will happen. Now it is a race against the clock to locate the next victims. This is a pursuit that ends more seconds too late than anything.

To make things even harder to wrap your head around, the suspect, John Doe, not only turns himself in but also agrees to take the detectives to the location of the last two victims that had not been discovered yet. Armed with the promise of a written confession upon their return, the detectives head out with Doe to the location of where the last two victims are to be found, but they might not be who you would have guessed.

By watching the film, you can appreciate four incredible parts that were played by perfectly matched actors and actresses. The lead roles by Brad Pitt (Detective Mills) and Kevin Spacey (John Doe) are among the best of both of their careers. This is not to downplay the supporting roles by Morgan Freeman (Detective Somerset) and the role of Detective Mills wife, Tracy portrayed by Gwenyth Paltrow.

So, if you wanted to learn more about Se7en, than this should have given you a good introduction to the film. While there is certainly more to appreciate about this movie, you are going to have to learn about that for yourself. So put the kids to bed, and appreciate what so many others have deemed one of the best films of 1995, and likely the nineties altogether.
