Usually performed directly through the biggest market of the tongue (although the tongue can be pierced in other places – but talk to your piercer first!) and the jewelry of choice is always a barbell. The barbell jewelry is used because tongue piercings will become swollen for a couple days to a week after the initial piercing, and the barbell can accommodate the swelling. Over time of 4-6 weeks, the jewelry can be replaced.

After a tongue piercing, it is STRONGLY advised not to smoke, engage in oral sex, or kiss. Proper cleaning ought to be done frequently, because the mouth is stuffed with bacteria. Although saliva is the body’s natural way of combating harmful bacteria, with an open wound say for example a piercing, the odds of infection do increase. With an open wound for instance a tongue piercing, the chance of diseases being transferred is greater too, including the Hepatitis strains and HIV. Heed the advice given to you by your piercer to prevent serious and unhealthy scenarios!

The tongue web, formerly called the frenetic linguine, is located beneath the tongue. The final piercing that is wholly located within the mouth is considered an extreme piercing and it’s also still very rare (and some may argue, completely impractical even by piercing standards). The Uvula, informally known as the “dangle thing” or “punching bag” located at the back of the throat by the tonsils, can be pierced. Most piercers will not perform this, even though the procedure is simple. Many individuals don’t have their gag reflex controlled enough to successfully do the piercing (just imagine the hazards of gagging with a sharp needle in your mouth!), and the uvula is very active pierce of tissue hence the potential for the body rejecting the piercing is very real. Jewelry that is rejected will almost definitely be swallowed, which can pose health risks.

This information is not to put you off getting a piercing of the tongue, tongue web, or uvula, but it’s not wise to trapeze into a piercing parlor (and side note: don’t even THINK about getting an oral piercing anywhere other than a sterile professional piercing parlor) to get an oral piercing on impulse. To prevent infection or rejection, consider your lifestyle: Do you smoke? This alone will definitely harass your new piercing and prolong the healing process. Are you orally fixated, therefore prone to tinkering and playing with your jewelry? Constant playing with tongue piercings can cause irreversible damage to the gum and teeth. Are you getting surgery soon? Your oral piercing will need to come out – surgeons insist on it to prevent surgical complications – and once you come out of anesthesia, your piercing will be completely healed. Have you had a tongue pierced before and also get it re pierced? Some piercers will refuse on the basis that scar tissue is very difficult to pierce through. Listen to your intuition. If your gut feeling is saying not to get an oral piercing, do not do it! Should you get an oral piercing, seriously consider your body. If something is wrong, your body will show you!

So, you should know about tattoo after care because you are ready to get a new tattoo!

It might be your first time, or it could be your tenth time, but in every case, you should review your tattoo after care instructions prior to getting your new tattoo. You might wonder about the logic about studying the instructions before getting your new tattoo, but it is like baking a cake, you just shouldn’t make any mistakes with these instructions because new tattoos are open wounds and susceptible to infection.

You must be attentive to your new tattoo, and keep it as clean as possible to ensure that it heals as cleanly as possible so you prevent infection and have the nicest looking tattoo possible.

While the healing stages of a tattoo will be as unique to each individual and there is people on this planet, the tattoo healing process does follow a general pattern. The specifics of each tattoo’s healing process relies on the different skin type of the individual, the location of the tattoo figure, an the techniques of the tattoo artist. These factors can all cause a variance in the healing process from individual to individual.

You will end up given aftercare instructions by your tattoo artist. These aftercare instructions differ from artist to artist. My recommendation to you is if uncertain about anything, always get back on your tattoo artist before seeking the assistance of a doctor. Your tattoo artist can have a look at your tattoo and tell how to proceed if there is a problem to correct any healing problems.

If your tattoo artist cannot help, they should send you for medical attention from a doctor. If they do not, then of course, you must go yourself to make certain that your health is not at risk. Here is the responsibility.

Many times doctors are unaware about tattoos and will prescribe unnecessary medications that may harm your tattoo’s healing process. Some doctors may even be biased against tattoos. That’s the reason I suggest that put forth the tattoo artist first if you feel there is a healing problem with your new tattoo. The artist works with tattoos day in and day out and knows the ultimate way to heal their work.

When you leave the tattoo studio, you will find a bandage on your new tattoo to protect it from outside contact. This bandage should be removed 2- 3 hours after getting your tattoo. Your tattoo may bleed a little for the first 24 hours, remember, your new tattoo is akin to an open wound.

Before you remove your bandage, you should definitely wash your hands with soap and warm water, in between the fingers, and under the fingernails. Then dry your hands with a clean paper towel. Avoid the use of any old towel that is laying there, or possibly a clean towel as lint may be transferred to your hands.

Be sure to have not let a large amount of blood dry on your bandage so that it sticks. Be very, very gentle as you remove your bandage so as not to start the tattoo bleeding again. If you just rip off your bandage, you can mess up each side your new tattoo, and you don’t want to do that, now do you?

Wash your tattoo gently, very gently with anti-bacterial water and soap to clean it. Do not scrub your tattoo, don’t use a washcloth, or anything else other than your fingers or hand to clean the tattoo. Do not rub, but “pat” the tattoo as you wash it. Then, when you find yourself finished, pat the tattoo dry with a clean dry paper towel. Or, use clean toilet paper even, without any paper towels on hand.

Let your tattoo air dry for 15 minutes or so. This will promote healing.

After your tattoo has dried, apply a few drops of Emu Oil to your tattoo. The existence of essential fatty acids combined with hyper-oxygenation of Emu Oil naturally increases the circulation to the applied area which explains why Emu Oil works so well and so quickly to heal.

Even though it is an oil, it has been proved that Emu Oil does not clog pores (unlike most commercially made tattoo aftercare products that are petroleum based), therefore allowing the skin to breathe during the healing process. Using Emu Oil 2-3 times a day after repeating the cleaning process while the tattoo heals will keep the area moist reducing or eliminating the flaking or scabbing that often occurs as new tattoos heal. New tattoos will look red and swollen immediately following the tattoo procedure. The tattoo will continue to appear this way a couple of days throughout the tattoo healing process. Within a week to ten days the skin surrounding the tattoo should be more normal again – most tattoos are completely healed in three weeks time.

Even though it is healing it is crucial not to do the following things or you may damage your tattoo:

- Do Not scratch your new tattoo

- Do Not pick at your new tattoo

- Do Not expose your tattoo to sunlight or tanning beds under any circumstances

- No swimming, hot tubs or baths the first two weeks after getting your new tattoo

- Do Not shave the tattooed area for around 30 days following the tattoo procedure

- Only touch your tattoo with clean hands, don’t let others touch your tattoo

Houston Beats Kansas City In Rainy NFL Preseason Contest

It was the sort of sloppy NFL preseason game that made the coaches more interested in escaping with as few injuries as possible than with winning or evaluating talent. In a driving rainstorm at Arrowhead Stadium the Houston Texans outlasted the Kansas City Chiefs to take a 16-10 NFL exhibition victory.

Texans coach Gary Kubiak summed up the teams mindset in such awful weather conditions:

“It was a very sloppy night weather-wise and whoever plays the best defense and whoever doesn’t put it on the ground usually finds a way to win in this league. I was glad we did, but we paid a price. We have some guys banged up and that usually happens when you get out there in a mess like that.”

The biggest name to suffer an injury was Houston backup QB Rex Grossman. Kubiak gave an early assessment of his prognosis after the game:

“It looks like he has a pretty good hamstring. The first play when he went in he booted and said he felt his hamstring pull or pop, or whatever. So we’ll have to wait and see.”

Texans running back Ryan Moats was happy about just having some actual opposition:

“It felt good to finally hit somebody else for a change and not worry about hurting anybody else.”

Texans QB Matt Schaub was generally pleased with his performance under the circumstances:

“We ran the ball effectively down in the red zone and we were able to finish that drive 95 yards for a touchdown. That’s the way you want to finish off your day.”

Kansas Citys head coach Todd Haley made his NFL coaching debut, and wasn’t particularly down about it being a loss:

“It’s your first game as head coach and I know it’s just preseason, but it was an exciting, exciting moment for me. If you tell me the first real one’s a win, I’ll take this loss any day of the week. It’s a special feeling when it’s your team and a lot of responsibility comes with that and I didn’t live up to my end of that. That’s the part that’s got to change.”

Houston will start the NFL regular season at home against the New York Jets on Sunday, September 13th while Kansas City will play the Ravens at Baltimore.

This is not to say, however, that we cannot grow good grass in our own yards. In doing so, the following should help:

* Fertilizers and chemicals – You can fertilize your lawn during fall. This is the time when the soil is best penetrated, making it good for planting. So when spring comes, your grass will grow and will feast on the nutrients that you left on the soil. This is the best grass-growing tip any professional landscaper can give and this is also why they grow such perfect grass. Avoid using pesticides and other chemicals because these will adversely affect the growth of grass.

* Mowing process – Always watch your grass’ height. If you use a lawn mower, set it to at least 3 to 4 inches in height. Remember that the proportion of the blade is the same as the roots. Doing this will be very effective since the cut grass will immediately fall to the ground which will also serve as your fertilizer.

* Soil testing – Soil testing should be done so that you will know the type of grass that will be suitable on the kind of soil that you have. This way, you will be sure that the soil and the grass will compatible. After soil testing, experts would advise you to either add more soil to add more nutrients or apply some kind of chemical or fertilizer which can help.

* Variety of the grass – Today, cultured lawn grass are now available. But remember that each of these will have its own unique characteristic that you need to ensure soil, humidity and temperature compatibility. If you grow the wrong variety, it will be a total waste of time and money.

There are many considerations when you want to grow green, healthy grass. Those who don’t appreciate grass may find all of these a waste of time. But those who do will find all the reasons to grow the most beautiful and healthiest grass on their own lawn for personal satisfaction.

Get the best lawn fertilizer for your grass but grow it with a genuine interest in the whole process. Not all lawn fertilizer brands and types are the same, though. The best thing to do would be to research on the particular type of grass you want and fertilizers that may be compatible with it.
