A fairly common issue that individuals are often forced to deal with at some point is a condition known as scabies. This parasitic infestation effects people from all walks of life and are passed on from host to host very easily. When one considers how common the problem is, it will probably be worth your time to familiarize yourself with it.
Scabies are typically defined as an infestation of the skin by microscopic parasites known as mites. This mite goes by the scientific name Sarcoptes scabiei and is easily passed from host to host. The mites can lay and hatch eggs in human skin, often causing symptoms to linger for months, and even years.
This parasite is can be pass on from person to person through simple physical contact with a carrier. They can also be acquired from from simply sharing various everyday objects that can harbor the parasite, including beds, furniture, clothing, and towels.
The symptoms often take weeks to manifest. This can make it difficult to pinpoint the source of the infestation. Symptoms generally begin with an intense itching that leads to scratching, and sometimes sores. Sometimes small bite marks can be observed. The skin will become very dry and red. The focus of the infestation generally occurs around various crevasses on the body, namely between the toes and fingers.
The fact that symptoms can take weeks to occur makes this a very difficult thing to prevent. In fact, the only real preventative measure is to be mindful of the situation and avoid contact with people and places that you fear may hold the parasite. If an infestation occurs in the home, treat all individuals in the household at the same time to prevent re-infestation. Also be sure to wash all relevant clothing and bedding in hot water.
Treatment usually takes the form of prescription medications, namely pills, lotions and other topical medicine. There may be alternatives in store-brand medicines, however, these are rarely powerful enough to kill off the infection. It is advisable that you speak with a doctor concerning the issue if you or another family member seems to exhibit symptoms.
This issue can be very aggravating, especially if the cycle of infestation repeats itself. Because of this, prompt action should be taken if someone in your household shows symptoms. Luckily, the problem is generally not a serious one and can usually be eliminated within a few weeks.
Choosing the most effective scabies medicine is important when you are suffering from this parasitic attack to your skin. Use scabies lotion to soothe and heal the symptoms and to get rid of the organisms.

The common bed bug (Cimex lectularius Linnaeus) probably received its name from its close association with human bedding.
During the day, bed bus hide out in bedding. And at night they snack on the occupants of the same bed.
These insects are known by several names: wall louse, house bug, mahogany flat, red coat, and crimson ramblers, to name just a few.,
Bed bugs prefer feeding on humans, but their culinary adventures are not restricted to man. Various species of the bedbug insect family Cimicidae also feed on mammals, poultry and non-domestic foul.
Among bedbugs reported in New Mexico are the western bat bug (Cimex pilosellus Horvath) and the swallow bug (Oeciacus vicarius Horvath). While these insects prefer other hosts, they can, when stressed, feed on humans.
Unlike many modern day pests, bed bugs have never been proven to be carries of disease, at least not in the US. They are spread mainly by clothing and baggage of travelers and visitors, secondhand beds, bedding materials, furniture, and laundry.
The mature bed bug is a brown- to mahogany-colored, wingless insect. Its size depends on how recently it has
eaten a blood meal. A ravenous bed bug may average 1/4 to 3/8 inches in length. The upper surface of its body has a papery, crinkly, flimsy appearance. When engorged with blood, its body becomes elongated and swollen, and its color changes from brown to dull red. The color, size, and shape change from an unfed to a full bug is remarkable.
