There are various important factors that must be taken into account in the interior design of any space. By sticking to the fundamental tenets mentioned below, most of the important matters will be tackled. Though these can be implemented in a variety of ways in different circumstances, you should know the influence that each has on the overall result.

Unity: According to this, the entire space must be considered as a single unit, which has been separated through walls, and this must be kept in mind while designing the interiors of the place, which therefore should have some consistency. The core theme must always be kept in view.

Balance: This involves the distribution of the visual weight in an area. Objects which have equivalent visual appeal should be placed at different points in the room to achieve a balance along a predefined axis. Balance is classified into three broad types. The most fundamental type is symmetrical balance, which is quite straightforward to strike. The next is asymmetrical, which needs a lot of imagination, but is increasingly preferred. The third is radial, which is attained by taking a central point or object from which the other items seem to be relatively positioned.

Proportion: This takes into account sizes of different items in relation to one another. It is crucial that different objects are in sync with each other and with the space as far as proportions are concerned. The lack of proportionality will make some pieces of furniture look out of place, while certain others will be subdued, which will significantly hamper the overall attractiveness of the room.

Focus: Good quality interior design needs a focus in the space. Focal objects can be anything ranging from a furniture article to an attractive painting or some other artistic piece. The object should be such that it is important in the overall design of the room and is able to grab the attention of the onlooker. It must stand out, but not look out of the scheme of things.

Rhythm: This is again an essential aspect of good interior design. The design must appear to flow according to a pattern from one point to another. Using a lot of curves, ornate walls or floors, decorative fixtures at regular distances, alternate shades etc can help attain a perceptible rhythm.

Bearing these principles in mind will help in effective and attractive interior designing of your house. It is dvisable to hire a good interior design expert who can take care of all these aspects and also assist you with the details.

In today’s competitive retail industry, there is a lot of interest in trying out innovative ideas and means of drawing more customers to any retail outlet. If you own a retail business and have been looking for ways to take your client base up a notch, then you will surely find the tips and ideas on retail design mentioned here very useful.

An air of friendliness and comfort will go a long way in exuding a warm welcome to potential customers and ensure that they will remember the positive impression for a long period. When a customer first enters, he should be made to feel fully at ease and should get the sense that you are delighted by his visit.

Leaving some space close to the store’s main doors will give your visitor the chance to adjust to the new surroundings and also assimilate the store’s layout and merchandise cursorily. The store’s layout must be arranged in such a way as to let visitors have a full unobstructed view of your range of items at one single, sweeping glance. Always use shelving units which aren’t too tall for typical customers to even read names or brands for the merchandise in the top rows. The shelving must enable customers to reach out to take or put back merchandise with minimum strain. Leave sufficient area between rows of shelves to allow two customers browse through parallel shelves at the same time without squeezing past one another.

By nature, people tend to prefer their right as the first direction of motion within any space. Design your layout such that shoppers are encouraged to go right and you will make them feel at ease immediately. Making the shopping errand an enjoyable, fast and simple process by marking aisles with the product types is a good way to draw busy customers repeatedly to your outlet.

The popularity of your store and the way visitors move and browse there can be influenced by the right retail design. Put these guidelines into action and you will find that your one time visitors will soon make your outlet their regular shopping destination.

With shocking rise in amounts of pollution and depletion of forest resources, people are increasingly becoming eco-friendly with a tremendous enthusiasm. Environmental knowledge has found its new voice in a drive towards green office furniture that several companies now opt for.

An excellent way to preserve earth’s fragile ecology is to go for modular offices. Such an office requires a lot less material and hence helps save trees. Less material not only implies less trees cut, but also means lesser expenditure borne by companies to build these offices. Modular offices are quite cost effective, and their rents are lesser as they cover lesser floor area.

Used or recycled furniture placed in offices also greatly helps in conserving the fast depleting natural resources. This kind of furniture usually requires only small changes and fits the needs of most offices perfectly. The disturbing economic climate has brought several firms to the brink of bankruptcy and they are selling off their furniture at meagre prices, and this yields a huge opportunity for upcoming businesses. Using such furniture saves trees from being felled and mines from being extracted to build new furniture.

There are ways to make sure that the furniture being made use of is green even if it is brand new. The new furniture must be made of recyclable materials and must be of local make so that the freight does not produce serious emissions from vehicles.

Make sure that toxic chemicals such as CFCs and HCFCs, which cause immense damage to the ozone layer, have not been made use of in the production of foams. The furniture must have been manufactured from trees with maturity period of less than 10 years as they reduce the impact on the environment. Finally, buying more furniture than you require must be avoided and you must be economical in your use of resources.
